Hello! Welcome to the online home of Realtime Ready!

My name is Julie Samford. I somehow passed the Texas CSR exam back in the late ’80s (third time’s a charm) and got my license to become a court reporter. I thought I was so smart back then, but man, was I ever in over my head! Little did I know that was only the beginning of a wonderful and crazy journey. After 14 years reporting, I found a new passion, and now I work with reporters instead of attorneys. Not a bad swap, if you ask me!

After all those years of sitting and listening intently, I finally get to talk, and now they can’t seem to shut me up! I’ve done lots of speaking at conventions and have even done some webinars and teletraining sessions. I’ve been told that I have a knack for taking complex subjects and breaking them down to a level so that anyone can learn. My mom was a third grade teacher, so maybe that’s where I learned how to do that… I’m not sure. But I do love my new career in what I call “humanizing technology for court reporters.”

So while you guys are working on transcripts all day, I’m on the internet researching technology, software, gadgets, all kinds of stuff. I’m a rep for Total Eclipse CAT Software in many states, so I talk to reporters all day long on the phone.

I see the world through the lens of my experience as a court reporter. I have a lot of information to share, and I’m really excited about this new, improved website in the form of a blog. I’m still learning how the web program works, so I apologize in advance if you check it out one day and there’s gobbledygook. It’s a work in progress, just as we all are. I hope you’ll find some articles of interest or at least get a laugh or two. I think my next training course will be How To Build Your Own Website with Wordpress in Just Under 3, 10, 24, 99 Hours!
