Total Eclipse Training In Chicago

Total Eclipse M

Note:  We’ll continue to update this page and add the topics that you are interested in learning. This class is for YOU, so please let us know how we can do the best possible job at giving you exactly what you need.  NCRA points?  Yes, you’ve got it!

We’ll both have our Passports, so this will be a perfect opportunity to get your hands on one and see how you like it.  Passports are now shipping!

Saturday – Beginner Class

If you’re a new Eclipse user, this class is just for you!

All those awesome features Total Eclipse has to offer are found in the User tabs, and Julie Samford will go through them one by one so you’ll know your way around and won’t have to search later for answers. Then we’ll go through everything you need to know to get out a transcript, from reading in notes to printing to creating an ASCII and a super nice-looking condensed transcript. We’ll edit a job together to learn how to use Hyperkeys like a pro. We’ll add some awesome entries to your dictionary that will do away with unresolved conflicts and show you exactly how to get rid of that shadowed final L once and for all!

If you’re a self-taught Eclipse user, and you know you’re missing out on some of the features that make the software great, this class may be just what you need. And yes, there will be chocolate!

Saturday – Advanced Class

Are you ready to take your realtime to the next level?

Rebecca Callow will share all her best realtime tips and secret techniques to get your transcripts coming out beautifully without a bunch of editing. Learn from this Certified Realtime Reporter how to tweak your phonetic table and do some quick and simple editing from the writer, like fixing the last untranslate, all without taking your hands off your machine!

She’ll teach you a cool trick for maneuvering fingerspelling, as well as how to create macros and auto-replacements.  See how easy it is to convert a digital recording in mp3 format to .wav and sync it with Eclipse.   There will be chocolate served, and she’ll give you some sweet numbers entries that you never even knew existed. If there’s time, she’ll even go over how to provide realtime hookups using Advantage Software’s free program, Bridge.

By the end of the class, you’ll be armed and dangerous… and REALTIME READY!

Sunday – Indexing Class

Don’t tell me you’re still typing in your index line by line!

All levels of Eclipse users are welcome to come together for this course. We’ll give you a set of block files with automatic indexing already set up and go through a transcript together so you’ll have hands-on experience using them. We’ll also go over how to bring in the block files automatically and how to include them from the writer. Don’t waste time creating your own auto indexing files when they’re already done for you! (Thanks to our man, Keith Vincent.) Indexing is really as easy as pie when you set it up correctly, and we’ll hold your hand and go step by step! We’ll also teach you how to create a block file from scratch. In fact, we’ll do one that will really come in handy… it’ll blank the screen at the exact moment you need to pull the plug on someone checking out your realtime screen.

Next, we’ll spend some time on your appearance page. We’ll teach you how you can use the fill-in-the-blanks process to automatically fill in the names and contact information of the attorneys you work with all the time. You can also use this same process for any other information you find yourself repeatedly typing in. It’s a HUGE timesaver!

The last hour of Sunday’s class will be optional lab time. This will be the perfect opportunity for you to fill in the block files with your own information and customize them exactly like you want. We’ll be walking around and giving individual attention. Save your burning questions for Sunday afternoon, and this will be your opportunity to show us what crazy thing is happening on your computer, and we’ll push a little button you never noticed before and “poof,” it’ll all be better!

If your brain is completely fried after two full days, you are perfectly welcome to take off and skip the lab time. We just wanted to offer this to wrap things up, so that you don’t go home with unanswered questions. And no, we wouldn’t even think of making you work all day without chocolate!

Thanks, Lisa! I hope you will join us! If Florida accepts NCRA-approved points, then you’re in luck. I have submitted the course to NCRA for 1.0 CEUs.

Thank you for holding this seminar. I went to your “Wild about Eclipse” seminar in Key West. The best ever.
I hope to come to this one. Is there any possible way to get CEU credits for Florida Professional Reporters (FPR)?

Please keep me advised of any future seminars.
